So you want to build a new system and make sure everything's compatible? Maybe you want a good idea of a price range to look at for the level of system you want to build. Or maybe you just want to look at a base-model to configure to your heart's content. In any case, I have you covered. Here are a few lists of components recommended for the type of price points you want to build to (Cheap - For Practice, $500, $1,000, and $1,500). Click the component name to check additional details, user reviews, and the current price on their reseller's or manufacturer's website. Prices (as well as availability) can change daily (+ or - a few bucks), but in the short run, these configurations should all remain fairly close to their respective price points.

If you've never built a computer before, it might be a good idea to start with 'El Cheapo.' It features the least expensive components possible, so that you can make any rookie mistakes on inexpensive hardware. The total configuration cost will be under $200, and should be sufficient to give you an excellent hands-on learning experience.
